The line-up for the 2014 Australian Dance Awards will showcase the amazing depth and creativity of the Australian dance scene bringing together some of the county’s finest dancers all performing at the one event, on the one stage at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 9 November.
The gala awards presentation is a public, ticketed event, giving anyone with a passion for dance the opportunity to enjoy a night of incredible dance entertainment for the fraction of the normal ticket price.
Hosted by dancer/actor Kip Gamblin and the divine Frances Rings, the 2014 Australian Dance Awards are set to be a night to remember.
The Australian Ballet will perform a piece from Cinderella while Indigenous live-wire Ghenoa Gela will rock the house with her G Styles.
Uunderground street-style champions Team 9Lives will fly with their unbelievable parkour skills and acclaimed soloist Kristina Chan will perform a work of heavenly delight.
Visual and movement artist David Capra will perform his ‘Ministry of Hands’ and LOcREaDO Dance Company will perform a specially commissioned dance installation.
NAISDA Dance College will earth us and dance artist Andy Dexterity will mesmerise us with his movement practice inspired by sign language
And no dance event would be complete without a performance by the award-winning Sydney Dance Company.
For the first time three of Sydney’s most successful dance schools – Ev and Bow, Brent St and The Village Performing Arts will come together with choreographer Stephen Tannos (of So You Think You Can Dance fame) to perform a grand finale segment titled  ‘SMASH IT SYDNEY’.
The Australian Dance Awards is the dance industry’s pre-eminent annual awards program, recognising and honouring dance artists, educators and administrators and feature 11 categories of achievement.
