Singers Naomi Price, Luke Kennedy, Ben Mingay, and Nina Korbe are set to join Queensland Ballet’s highly anticipated production, Strictly Gershwin. The production, set to mesmerize audiences once again, will return to the stage this September, promising a captivating fusion of ballet and iconic Gershwin melodies.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Nina, Ben, Naomi, and Luke to join us on stage for Strictly Gershwin,” says Li Cunxin AO, Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet.

“Their exceptional talent and passion for performance will undoubtedly elevate Strictly Gershwin to new heights, bringing an unparalleled and thrilling experience to our audiences.”

Luke Kennedy joined Queensland Ballet for the sellout production of Strictly Gershwin in 2016.

“Naomi and I are delighted to be joining the cast of Strictly Gershwin. I was fortunate enough to perform in the original Australian cast back then, so it’s special to return to the work alongside my partner and tackle this beautiful repertoire together.

“We are both deeply admiring of the achievements of Queensland Ballet under the artistic leadership of Li Cunxin and can’t wait to share the stage with world-class dancers performing the iconic music of George Gershwin.

Luke Kennedy, an Australian recording artist and television presenter, gained international fame as Ricky Martin’s grand finalist on season two of The Voice Australia. Having enjoyed extensive touring experience with The TEN Tenors, Luke’s enthralling voice and stage presence have captured audiences worldwide. He is also a seasoned music theatre performer, having headlined numerous productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar” in the title role.

Naomi Price, the talented Artistic Director of The Little Red Company, brings her rich musical experience to the stage. Known for her outstanding performances in productions such as “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” and “Ladies in Black,” Naomi has been recognised with prestigious awards, including a Green Room Award and multiple Matilda Awards. Her compelling stage presence and exceptional vocals will add a magical touch to the timeless Gershwin melodies.

Ben Mingay, a versatile actor, and musical theatre performer, joins the production with an impressive repertoire of stage credits, including roles of Erik in The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd, Shrek in Shrek The Musical and many more. His stunning vocal abilities have won him praise worldwide, and his appearance in Strictly Gershwin is bound to elevate the show to new heights.

Soprano and proud Koa, Kuku Yalanji, Wakka Wakka artist, Nina Korbe, is an emerging opera talent gaining recognition for her creamy tone, remarkable high notes, and emotive performances. Nina’s achievements include her role in the world premiere of Freya Waley-Cohen’s “Witch,” where she debuted the role of Little Ms Manifest with the Royal Academy Opera. In Australia, Nina’s professional career has soared with performances alongside Opera Queensland, Camerata, Southern Cross Soloists, and the Goldner String Quartet. Her appointment as Artist in Residence for Queensland Youth Orchestras and the receipt of prestigious scholarships further solidifies her position as a rising opera talent.

During the performance, these talented singers will be adorning exquisite jewellery from the show’s presenting partner, Margot McKinney. All of these pieces are important, unique one-of-a-kind pieces befitting Queensland Ballet’s extraordinary performance.

Don’t miss the chance to witness the captivating synergy of ballet and live singing in Strictly Gershwin, as these four exceptional performers grace the stage with Queensland Ballet’s world-class dancers.

Strictly Gershwin runs from 28 September to 7 October at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC. Tickets are available here.
