BRIDEN STARR - AUDITIONS THIS WEEK!

Briden-Starr Aspinall, (formerly known as Briden Starr) began her career at a very early age … We have been following Briden’s career now here at DanceLife for quite some time and wanted to share her journey from Dancer to Commercial Singer with the rest of Australia.

All through her schooling years Briden was a frequent performer of Channel 9’s “The Kerri-Anne show” and “Mornings with Channel 9”. At just 14 years Old, Briden landed the role of “Michelle” in “ Razzle Dazzle the movie. Briden was a dancer to tour with the Superfest tour 2010 artists such as; Akon, Kelly Rowland, EVE, Sean Paul, Jay Sean, Pitbull and many more. Bridens dancer credits also include dancing for artists such as Ricki-Lee, Paulini, Delta Goodrem and Rick Astley. During her HSC year, Briden was contracted with MTV Australia and was re-located to the Gold Coast to host a live show called “MTV Summer Series – MTV plugs into Dreamworld”. She then moved to Melbourne to play “Shelly” in the original company of Hairspray, The Musical. Briden also played the main role of “Gypsy Rose Lee” in the musical “Gypsy”.
After a stint on X-Factor 2012, Briden was named ‘the most sought after X-Factor contestant of all time’. She was then cast as ‘Gilda Grey’ in Baz Luhrmans ‘The Great Gatsby’ and as soon as filming had finished, she went on to play the role of ‘Jessica’ in The X-Men Saga, ‘The Wolverine’. Briden was crowned Miss Tourism World Australia and was runner up Miss Universe Australia 2014.
What sparked our further interest here at DanceLife is that Briden Starr released her debut single “Pyromania” earlier this year which hit top 50 iTunes Chart and she is currently in the process of producting her 2nd single. We had a chance to catch with Briden recently to ask her a few questions about her career switch …

What made you switch to pursuing a singing career?

‘I’ve always had a passion for singing and acting. I injured myself when i was around 16 and that caused quite a lot of stress. I realised this is all i wanted to do was be a performer and if I could no longer dance then I had to find other ways that filled that hole. I started focusing on my singing and my acting. I fell completely in love with it! I felt that same buzz I get when I’m dancing. My injury flared up again when i was 17 and it caused me to really limit what I could do physically. So I decided to make the switch … to make my music and my acting my first priority’

Is dance still a big part of your life?

‘YES! Dance is a HUGE part of my life! I teach at The Village and take class still one or twice a week. I will never not dance!’
In a perfect world, what would your future look like?

‘In a perfect world? hmmmmm. I would be in-between filming blockbuster movies and be currently on a world tour of my music! Having Dancers from Australia’

What advice do you have for young Australian dancers & entertainers?

‘I know it sounds corny, but do not give up! If this is really what you want to do then work hard, stay humble and focus on your craft. Remember why you started. A lot of people really get caught up in unnecessary things such as How many “likes” they get on a photo and how many followers they have. But we need to remember whats important …and thats our passion and our heart. If you have a good heart, good focus and work hard then you are destined for greatness’
