One of The Australian Ballet’s most dynamic dancers, Daniel Gaudiello, has stepped away from the stage after 12 years with the company. His exceptional performance of Vitesse on Monday night the 21st of March was his last performance with the company.
Over his 12 years with The Australian Ballet, Daniel has captured hearts with his thrilling performances which has seen him become one of The Australian Ballet’s most loved dancers. His dynamic, emotional and varied roles across the repertoire lead him to be singled out both here and overseas as one of our most versatile and passionate dancers.
Daniel for some time has been working towards this decision and The Australian Ballet joins him in wishing him every success as he moves into this next phase of his professional life.
Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet David McAllister said, “It has been such a joy to watch Daniel grow from a young eager student to one of our company’s great leading men. From having worked with many of the world’s greatest choreographers creating some of our most successful ballets to interpreting the major classical repertoire in his own unique way his performances have left an indelible mark on our company. While we will miss seeing him dancing on stage I am sure he will continue to explore his artistic talent in many new and exciting ways and I wish him every success in this new chapter of his career”.
Brisbane-born Daniel Gaudiello strapped on his first pair of dancing shoes at the age of six at the Johnny Young Talent School, then at Promenade Dance Academy. Later he completed the Queensland Dance School of Excellence and Queensland Ballet professional year before being accepted into The Australian Ballet School, where he participated as an exchange student with The National Ballet School of Canada and the School of American Ballet.
Daniel joined The Australian Ballet in 2004 and in early 2007 participated in classes with some of the world’s finest ballet companies in London, Amsterdam, Munich and Paris. Daniel made his choreographic debut with a piece called Notte in Bianco for Bodytorque. To the Pointe in 2009 and was promoted to principal artist in 2010.
