Melbourne City Ballet seeks Junior dancers for roles in The Nutcracker

Would you like to be a part of Melbourne City Ballet’s upcoming production of The Nutcracker?
Melbourne City Ballet is offering the opportunity for young dancers to experience being a part of a live ballet production with the regional Christmas tour of The Nutcracker in December.
Audiences in Melbourne and South Australia will be swept up in the magic of the season as Melbourne City Ballet returns to the stage this December with the classic Christmas favourite, The Nutcracker.
Young dancers in Melbourne & South Australia will have the opportunity to register to be a part of the magic of this wonderful production, representing their communities onstage with the main company.
Returning from their first tour to Tasmania, Melbourne City Ballet will once again track new ground by crossing the border to bring this festive ballet to audiences in South Australia. “What is more special than taking a loved one to see The Nutcracker at Christmas time?” says Artistic Director Michael Pappalardo, “this iconic ballet is such a cherished tradition for so many people that we are sure it will cement itself as a firm favourite in our repertoire” he continues.
Melbourne City Ballet will be conducting small workshops in Melbourne & South Australia, and during these workshops the artistic staff will select young dancers to appear alongside the Company in a small dance scene with Mother Ginger.
Melbourne City Ballet will be predominately looking for dancers, both boys and girls, aged between 9 and 12 years old. Basic ballet skills and knowledge are required.
Dancers will learn the choreography within the workshop. Those who are successful will be notified at the end of the workshop and will be given more detailed information about the show.
The 1 hour workshop is $15 per person and includes ballet class with a Melbourne City Ballet artist, classical technique coaching and learning The Nutcracker repertoire.
