Ghost Town
The 8068 Project is preparing to present their debut work, Ghost Town: Inhabitants of the Abandoned City, on March 8, 9 and 10 for the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Directed and choreographed from San Francisco by Cera Byer, and produced by Adelaide born Bridgett Cains, the show has been pieced together with cast members in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and California, each armed with a video camera and a computer.
Since late 2011, Cera has been setting written and choreographic assignments which the dancers complete and return online using video and their google group, exploring characters and rehearsing choreography in preparation for an intensive week of rehearsals in Adelaide before opening night.
Ghost Town explores “Abandoned theme parks, forgotten malls and cities; giant structures built to house the glory of man’s innovation and invention, left to rot. Classic carnival characters, theme park icons, and mayors of abandoned cities left homeless, wandering the world, trying to remember where they come from and find a new home.”

With the cast member’s backgrounds ranging from bellydance, hip hop, physical theatre and commercial dance, to acting, circus, contemporary and African dance, combined with the show being located in the Myer Centre, just below the abandoned Dazzleland theme park, Ghost Town promises to be a raw and  engaging performance from this experimental dance company.
Ghost Town is a 60 minute production running from March 8-10 at the Myer Centre Theatre, Level 4, Rundle Mall.
Tickets cost from $18-$24 and can be purchased through the Adelaide Fringe.
ABOUT CERA BYERCera Byer - Ghost Town, Adelaide Fringe
Cera Byer holds a degree in Dance Performance & Choreography, with a minor in World Music & Dance, from San Francisco State University, and has taught internationally at conferences, festivals, studios, and retreats. Her technical approach comes from ongoing exhaustive exploration into Graham, Horton, and Dunham techniques, alongside Kathak, Persian, Bellydance, Hip Hop, Funk, and Afro-Caribbean traditions, but her choreography is anything but a dry academic approach to fusion. Cera’s work has been called “a hot sweaty tribute that will have audiences and dancers alike moving and moved by the material”, and “organic evolving studies into the biospheres of human emotion”. Cera founded Shoebox Studio in San Francisco and is the founder and director of Damage Control Dance Theater.
