PUBLIC MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JON ENGLISH
1949 – 2016
The family of Jon English today announced further details for the Public Memorial Service for Jon on Monday 4 April at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney at 5pm.
Jon passed away on March 9, aged 66, following complications from surgery.
This memorial service is an occasion for the entertainment industry and Jon’s fans to come and celebrate Jon’s life with tributes and performances in memory of Jon.
Speaking at the memorial will be Simon Gallaher, Amanda Muggleton, Peter Rix, Trevor White and members of the English family, and performances will be given by Peter Cupples, the Foster Brothers, Simon Gallaher, Christie Lamb, Doug Parkinson, John Waters and John Paul Young.
It was at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in 1972, that the Australian public first fell in love with Jon English. Playing Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon launched himself into the stratosphere to become a household name, enjoyed, admired and loved by so many of us.
Ticketing arrangements: Tickets are free and everyone is invited and very welcome. People are encouraged to arrive early to pick up tickets from the Capitol Theatre Box Office from 9am Monday morning. Maximum of 4 tickets each.
