Kelley Abbey

After the release of industry dance book Light The Way – Inspiring Stories from Australian Dancers in 2020, its creators Louise Telford & Kelley Abbey identified how important it is for the next generation of dancers to be educated and inspired by the true greats of the industry.

From this, the idea of the LIGHT THE WAY DANCE CONVENTION was born, promising to be the most unique and spectacular dance convention this country has ever seen.

The inaugural LIGHT THE WAY DANCE CONVENTION to be hosted by Luke Jacobz will provide a spectacular three days and nights of learning, performance, and dance from 6 to 8 August at the Coliseum Theatre, West HQ.

The aim of LIGHT THE WAY DANCE CONVENTION is to bring the industry together, to inspire and educate the next generation of Australian dancers by giving students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the greats in the industry and to perform on the same bill as their icons.

The Convention will gather the biggest names in the business in the first-of-it’s-kind event where the true legends of Australian dance will teach masterclasses, hold Q&A industry panels, once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities and more.

This event will have strictly limited numbers and the workshops will be about quality, not quantity. The students will dance in Australia’s newest state-of-the-art theatre at Sydney Coliseum and the adjoining West HQ that has the capacity to cater to workshops and shows.

Each evening over the 3 days of the convention there will be a spectacular show in the Sydney Coliseum Theatre giving participants a once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunity of working with industry professionals.
