This November, NAISDA Dance College invites audiences to experience echoing the future — a profound new performance season celebrating healing, reclamation, and empowerment through the voices and artistry of First Nations creatives.
Running 20–22 November 2025 at Carriageworks, Sydney, the season is the culmination of a transformative year of training, cultural immersion, and creative collaboration from NAISDA’s Developing and Practising Artists.
A Glimpse of Tomorrow Through Movement and Story
echoing the future offers what NAISDA calls a Foreseeing — a visionary reflection on the choices we make today and their impact on generations to come.
Through powerful movement, song, and story, the production explores ancestral knowledge, deep connection to Country, and the renewal of young artists carrying First Nations cultures forward.
A Collaboration of Global First Nations Voices
Directed by Charles Koroneho, the work unites global First Nations perspectives across Aotearoa, Wailwan Country, and the Dätiwuy Clan from North East Arnhem Land.
Koroneho, a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance and Elam School of Fine Arts, has worked with Te Toki Haruru, MAU, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Guillermo Gomez-Peña and La Pocha Nostra — touring internationally across the Pacific, Europe, and North America.
“NAISDA provides an incredible context where I can contribute ideas about the future practices of Indigenous dance,” said Koroneho. “One of the most important aspects of my work is to explore intercultural exchange and Indigenous creativity — and how to nurture its development within a global dance perspective.”
Continuing a Legacy of Cultural Leadership
For nearly 50 years, NAISDA Dance College has led the way in First Nations performing arts education, training the next generation of storytellers, choreographers, and cultural leaders.
echoing the future continues that legacy — uniting community, culture, and creativity in a breathtaking performance that honours the past while illuminating the path ahead.
