A dazzling celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s genius is set to light up Sydney this summer, as Putting It Together takes centre stage at the Foundry Theatre from 6 January – 15 February 2026.

Set at a glamorous cocktail party, the production blends Sondheim’s wit, charm, and razor-sharp insight into love, ambition, and desire — all wrapped in an elegant, late-night black-tie affair.

A Dream Cast of Australian Musical Theatre Greats

This once-in-a-lifetime event features some of Australia’s finest stage performers:

Caroline O’Connor (Chicago, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd)
Michael Cormick (The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast
Nigel Huckle (Miss Saigon, West Side Story)
Bert LaBonté (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, The Book of Mormon)
Stefanie Caccamo (Into The Woods, The Lord of the Rings)

Together, they bring extraordinary vocal power, charisma, and artistry to Sondheim’s timeless score, making this production a must-see for lovers of musical theatre.

Producer Craig Donnell said, “It’s not often you get to put your dream cast on stage — but that’s exactly what we’ve achieved here. Every one of these performers represents the finest Australian talent, drawn from the biggest musicals across Australia, Broadway, and the West End.”

A Venue Made for Intimate Brilliance

Graeme Kearns, CEO of Foundation Theatres, shared, “We’re thrilled to be staging this exceptional production of Putting It Together in the intimate Foundry Theatre. This is exactly the kind of world-class performance we built the theatre for — where audiences can experience the very best of musical theatre up close and in comfort.”

A Global Legacy

First performed in Oxford, UK (1992) under the direction of Julia McKenzie and produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Putting It Together has since graced major stages worldwide — including Broadway and the West End — with stars such as Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, and Janie Dee.

Now, Sydney audiences have the rare chance to experience this extraordinary Sondheim celebration performed by Australia’s own musical-theatre royalty.
