Prix de Lausanne

International ballet competition – Beaulieu Theatre (Lausanne)

A 9-member Jury panel gathered in Lausanne last weekend to select the candidates for the upcoming Prix de Lausanne. At the end of this video selection, 88 dancers (including 7 preselected candidates) have been selected to participate in the next international ballet competition, from 28 January to 4 February 2024 at the Beaulieu Theatre in Lausanne. Following the worldwide success of its 50th anniversary festivities, the Prix de Lausanne will conclude its competition with Rising Stars, an unique performance featuring past and present Prix de Lausanne winners and finalists.

The Jury for the video selection, made up of 9 professionals from the international dance scene, have watched and marked the videos of 425 applicants (333 girls and 92 boys) from 43 different countries. A total of 81 dancers have been selected via this process, while 7 had already been preselected*.

In total, 88 dancers (44 girls and 44 boys) from 19 different countries are selected to take part in the Prix de Lausanne 2024.

*3 candidates were preselected thanks to the Latin American Preselection in Córdoba, Argentina, and 4 during the Summer Intensive – European Preselection in Lausanne.

Kathryn Bradney Prix de Lausanne’s Artistic and Executive Director “The video selection stage is always an exciting and moving moment. What a thrill to discover all these young dancers from so many countries! I am very proud to present the highly talented dancers selected for the next competition, whom we will support with all our care and professionalism over the coming months. We are also very excited to invite you to our Rising Stars closing event, a dazzling performance by international dance stars and former Prize Winners of the Prix de Lausanne, plus the finalists and Prize Winners of the 2024 edition. A wonderful occasion to let all these young talents thrive one more day on the stage of the Beaulieu Theatre!”

Dazzling Rising Stars

Our closing event Rising Stars will showcase two international dance stars, former Prize Winners of the Prix de Lausanne, plus the finalists and freshly crowned Prize Winners of the 2024 edition. The second part will highlight our choreographic projects, presenting the two winning variations of the Young Creation Award, and the original piece from our Partner School Choreographic Project. This year’s choreographer is Kinsun Chan, who will create an original choreography with 24 dancers from our partner schools.

Closing with style the 52nd edition of the Prix de Lausanne, this special event will take place the day after the competition’s finals, on Sunday, 4 February 2024 at the Beaulieu Theatre in Lausanne, and will be live streamed worldwide on multiple platforms.
