Queensland Ballet Launches a Treasure Hunt for Dracula Tickets

24 November – 4 December

Queensland Ballet has hidden 100 tickets across Greater Brisbane ahead of its upcoming season of Dracula, on Wednesday 24 November at QPAC.

Small wooden coffins contain free double-passes to Queensland Ballet’s gothic and sensuous production of Dracula have been placed in locations all over South East Queensland. The scavenger hunt will take place in the local government areas of Brisbane, The Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Redland, Moreton Bay and Logan City.

Over the past week the Queensland Ballet company dancers have been hand painting the coffins in between rehearsals. Then they’ve signed them and put a double pass into their creation. There is even a coffin painted and signed by Artistic Director Li Cunxin AO.

From bustling Queen Street Mall to regional parklands, Queensland Ballet is hoping to give 100 lucky people the chance to experience a sublime night at the ballet, if they can find the hidden treasure.

Artistic Director Li Cunxin said people eager to get their hands on tickets should keep an eye out on Queensland Ballet’s social media for location hints.

“We’ve tried to pick locations which tie in with Dracula. I don’t want to give away too many clues ahead of the treasure hunt on Friday but if you think about names or places that tie in with the theme and you’d be on the right track,” Mr. Li said.

“The ticket treasure hunt is a fun way to engage audiences and get Brisbane excited for the thrilling new season, which sold out twice in Western Australia,” said Mr. Li.

“This season is quite unlike anything we’ve ever done before, and we know audiences will be spellbound.

“Dracula will have audiences captivated, with sublime choreography, music, costumes and sets creating an unmissable night at the ballet,” Mr. Li said.

Not your typical ballet, audiences will be suspended into a spellbinding journey across centuries and into a dark world where true love never dies. This ballet with bite is a first-time collaboration between Queensland Ballet and world-renowned Polish choreographer Krzysztof Pastor, as they bring to life the unearthly and sensuous tale of Count Dracula as he tries to reunite with his one true love, Mina.

Derived from infamous vampire legends that have haunted and unnerved people for centuries, this neo-classical ballet follows Bram Stoker’s legendary 1897 gothic novel Dracula.

Followers of Queensland Ballet’s Social media accounts will get clues throughout the day with photos of the ticket locations to be posted from 5am on Friday 19th November.
