Queensland Ballet

Thomas Dixon Centre

In a first for Queensland Ballet, the company is peeling back the curtain to allow audiences to experience the ritual of daily Company Class.

Audiences often remark on the dazzling grace and ease of a Queensland Ballet performance, but when not in the spotlight, Queensland Ballet dancers spend tireless hours honing their skills. These hours are focused, intimate, and see the dancers push themselves to new technical heights. On September 18th, and November 20th audiences will be invited to the Talbot Theatre in the Thomas Dixon Centre to watch these intimate moments unfold in Company Class.

Principal dancer Lucy Green is excited to welcome audiences behind the scenes.

“We have such wonderful supportive audiences here in Brisbane, but I think when people get to see the sheer amount of work behind each performance, they appreciate the art form even more. Company Class is perfect for this as the dancers get to take more risks and really flex their technical skills. There’s always a real hunger to improve.”

According to Executive Director Dilshani Weerasinghe this is one of a number of exciting new programs happening at the company’s home and Queensland cultural hub, the Thomas Dixon Centre.

“I am thrilled to see our newly revitalised home shine as a vibrant space for sharing ballet and inspiring experiences with our cherished community. It is a privilege to welcome more people into this dynamic and inspiring environment. We are excited to offer an array of events that exclusively complement our mainstage performances.”

Already the Thomas Dixon Centre has established itself as a collaborative and dynamic cultural hub, hosting various performing artists, panel discussions and interactive activities.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity. Class can be viewed on either September 18, or November 20, 2024. Tickets in the link below.
