The Nutcracker

Lyric Theatre, QPAC, from 13 – 21 December 2024

Queensland Ballet invites audiences of all ages to embark on a Christmas journey with their popular annual tradition, The Nutcracker.

This timeless tale has been enjoyed worldwide for over a century and, with its charming characters, whimsical adventures, and Christmas joy, has become a favourite holiday tradition for Brisbane families.

As the festive party winds downs and the clock strikes 12, join Clara on a magical adventure as toys awaken, and soldiers and mice frolic and play! Travel through a delectable dreamscape of the Lemonade Sea and Kingdom of Sweets, as Clara encounters the beautiful Snow Queen, Prince, and ethereal Sugar Plum Fairy, plus all the enchanting inhabitants of their kingdom. This midnight rendezvous takes place in a dazzling world where nothing is as it seems.

Tchaikovsky’s orchestral suite, played live by the brilliant Queensland Symphony Orchestra, breathes enchantment and nostalgia throughout. Intricate fluttering melodies evoke childhood adventures, and majestic orchestrations exhilarate audiences both young and old.

With delightful characters, glittering costumes, beautiful music and plenty of wonder, this is a festive treat not to miss!

As one of Queensland Ballet’s most popular productions tickets are expected to sell fast. Audiences are encouraged to get in quickly to secure their seats.

Queensland Ballet’s Director of Development, Rachael Walsh, expressed gratitude towards Sealy who have been supporting this beloved production for many years.

“Sealy’s ongoing support has been instrumental in bringing The Nutcracker to life on stage each year. Our legacy partnership stems from a commitment to support high performance and enable world-leading artistic experiences here in Queensland. We are deeply grateful for Sealy’s support and immensely proud of our shared vision and collaboration which makes enchanting experiences such as The Nutcracker possible,” says Director of Development Rachael Walsh.

Experience the magic of The Nutcracker at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, from 13 – 21 December 2024.
