RAW Metal tours Canada

10 Shows and Workshops of Exciting Street, Tap and Acro

Brisbane’s all male dance group RAW Metal is heading to back to Canada in October for a 16 day, 10 date tour that will see the boys weave their way across Ontario on a 5,000km road trip.
All graduates from RAW Dance Company in Queensland, the four young dancers that make up RAW Metal deliver an electric, perfectly synchronised, 60 minute routine that pushes dance to the limits. Combining traditional tap, jazz and street-based acrobatics, this adrenalin fuelled show is driven by a pumping medley of classic soul and funk tracks.
The cast of this production to tour are Sam Windsor (based in Brisbane), Kieran Heilbronn (based in UK), Owain Kennair (based on the Gold Coast) and Mike Lapot (based in Adelaide).
Following successful seasons at the 2012 and 2016 Ottawa Children’s Festival, plans were made to tour the show throughout Ontario in 2017. In keeping with the spirit of this Australian/Canadian cultural exchange, RAW Metal are touring places where audiences would not normally have the opportunity to see such artists.
In addition to their theatre shows, the dancers will take workshops in each of the ten communities they visit, working with students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced professionals.
For dancer Sam Windsor, who graduated from RAW in 2010, the tour is a great opportunity to travel overseas, experience new audiences and share his skills with other aspiring performers. “The thing I love about dance is that it’s a universal language and no matter where you go in the world, you will always find an audience,” he said.
Since its debut in 1998, RAW Metal has performed in 17 countries, played more than 1,000 shows and reached a global audience in the hundreds of thousands. For founder and choreographer, Andrew Fee, the on-going success of the show is no surprise. “RAW Metal has always been a work in progress – a fluid project that has evolved over time. At the end of the day, it has kept its edge which is why people keep coming back.”

RAW Metal tours Ontario from October 12 – 28, 2017
