Adults Only Bubble Show at Melbourne Fringe takes the humble art of bubble-making and turns it into a surprisingly sophisticated, adults-only circus act. Performed by the incredibly fit duo Kurt Murray and Iulia Benz, this show balances playful charm with adult humour, using bubbles in ways that are anything but predictable. There’s no smoke and mirrors here. Just two inventive performers using bubbles to surprise, entertain and raise a few eyebrows. It’s smart, silly and refreshingly original.

From the moment the two step onstage, it’s clear this isn’t your average circus show. Across a series of well-paced, cleverly crafted vignettes, the inventive duo stretch the possibilities of soap, air and water into theatrical territory most of us never knew existed. Bubbles grow, burst, float, shimmer and even catch fire. Some glide silently across the stage. Others become part of comic setups or visual punchlines. At times, bubbles are tools. At others, they’re the joke itself. There’s a distinct rhythm to how each piece builds and lands, and the performers’ physicality blends circus and clowning in a way that keeps things light but skilful. You’re never quite sure what’s coming next, and that unpredictability is part of the fun. They read the room beautifully, playing just close enough to the edge without tipping over.

Each scene introduces a fresh and unexpected twist, but we won’t spoil all the surprises here. The show gradually shifts from playful curiosity into more daring territory, pairing bubble artistry with moments of strength, suggestion and absurdity. The lighting and music choices are subtle and well considered, helping the mood shift from nostalgic to slightly naughty without ever being heavy-handed. Throughout, the energy remains high, the humour lands well, and the sense of fun never drops.

Adults Only Bubble Show is a delightful blend of humour and craft, proving that even bubbles can be elevated to an art form when placed in the right hands. It’s a show that knows exactly how to keep a crowd entertained, and It’s a show for anyone who loves a little mischief, a bit of cheek, and the joy of playing grown-up games.
