It was a stunning night in the City of Sydney, for the Official Opening of Here You Come Again at The Theatre Royal which was ablaze with the enthusiasm of Dolly Parton look-a-likes and a country theme, literally overflowing on the pink carpet.

Presented by Kay & McLean Productions and Melting Pot, in association with Fane Productions, this innate crowd favourite, had awesome vibes from the foyer to inside the theatre, with an intriguing structured set by Set Designer, Paul Wills, to view on arrival.

It felt fascinating, to wonder what was in stall for the night ahead with this

brand new musical comedy, featuring all of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits!

Created by two-time Emmy Award-winning Bruce Vilanch in collaboration with Director, Gabriel Barre and Associate Director, Mike McLeish, along with Tricia Paoluccio, while Produced by arrangement with Dolly Parton, this show is the perfect blend of iconic celebration and pure joy, while accenting deeper layers of awareness within life experiences and the colourful characters that impact such encounters.

Producers of this uplifting masterpiece are Liza McLean from Tinderbox Productions, Andrew Kay, Simon Friend, Hanna Osmolska, Alex Fane and Peter Richardson. HERE YOU COME AGAIN

Featuring co-creator Tricia Paoluccio in the role of Dolly, you will be engaged and in some ways hypnotised, as she literally, not only embodies this role with perfection yet encompasses the spirit of Dolly, with her voice, tone and mannerisms that are impeccable.

Australia’s own Dash Kruck plays Kevin Russell whom is likeable with his quirky characteristics and charm. A true delight to watch as he shares his brilliant talents right before your eyes. The way he executes such relatable and well timed comical moments, is both brilliant and enduring and very funny!

The Cast is small, yet powerful and certainly add extra dimensions to the story line developed from the time we were hit with Covid 19.

Kellie Rode, Bailey Dunnage, Laura Joy Bunting integrate multiple characters during the performance, radiantly also offering powerful vocals throughout the show.

We are also treated to an incredibly talented live band whom transition effortlessly through scene and set changes. They become part of the storytelling. Musical Director and Orchestrator playing keyboard, Andrew Worboys also enhances his reputable skills in playing the role of The Father as well as the understudy of Jeremy. On guitar is Ash Murdica, base guitar is Tina Harris and drums, Luke Herbert.

Their energy is certainly another bonus to witness and celebrate, as the music is cleverly integrated throughout with great thought and precession.

The music and sound by Sound Designer, Marcello Lo Ricco, is brilliant and passionate and bound to get your feet tapping, hands clapping as you sing along effortlessly with these iconic tunes.

Adapted for Australia by Fiona Harris and Mike McLeish, this cleverly and authentic musical is a celebration of music, resilience and generosity of good spirit, that is both personal and touching.

The Lighting Design by Jason Bovaird impacts the journey of the storyline and enhances the beauty and magic of the shows theme just perfectly.

Packed with iconic songs like Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again, and many more, this heartfelt musical tells the story of a diehard fan whose fantasy version of international icon Dolly Parton, helps him navigate life’s toughest challenges. With her wit, humour, and charm, Dolly teaches him invaluable lessons about life, love, and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps – whether or not those bootstraps have rhinestones!

The Costumes also Designed by Paul Wills along with Costume Maker and Supervisor, Jennifer Langford, depict and compliment the era and stardom effortlessly and are cleverly intervened throughout the show adding flow with their transitions that compliment the music and storytelling. HERE YOU COME AGAIN

As is the Choreography by James Maxfield. Brilliantly enhances the structure and energetics of the show throughout.

The humour and light hearted nature of this musical is seamlessly balanced with something far more personal and touching and is such a delightful experience to be had. Part musical, part play and part Dolly Parton Concert this inspiring new musical is both heartfelt and hilarious. A life affirming reminder to love yourself, trust your instincts and when in doubt ask yourself, What would Dolly do?

And when all else fails, sing!

This songstress, icon and philanthropist has certainly touched so many hearts to date and sharing her music and essence within this musical certainly makes it as special as her vibrancy.

Dolly Parton is the epitome of living life to it’s fullest, she is a living legend.

Following sold out seasons across the U.S. and U.K., Here You Come Again is touring nationally and is the 2025 musical you won’t want to miss!
