Be Part of Melbourne City Ballet’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

Local Dance Extras Wanted for Regional Shows in VIC, NSW & QLD

Melbourne City Ballet are looking for young dancers to experience a professional ballet production as extras as their regional tour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream throughout August and September.
In partnership with Creative Victoria and Arts Queensland, Melbourne City Ballet will provide opportunities for young dancers seeking to experience being a part of a live ballet production.
Young dancers across the country will have the opportunity to register to be a part of the magic of this wonderful production, representing their communities onstage with the company.
There are two specific roles for this ballet which will need up to 7 young dancers to fill these roles. Those participating within this program will receive special gifts from the company artists and a Certificate of Congratulations for their successful audition and participation from Melbourne City Ballet’s Artistic Director, Michael Pappalardo.
The Changeling Child – The Changeling child is the role for a young boy (or possibly girl) who is a child of one of Titania’s worshippers, who has passed away. During the ballet, Titania and Oberon fight for ownership of the young shapeshifter, with this role appearing on stage for a large amount of the time. This role does have very little to no dancing within the production.
Young Fairies – The young fairies appear within A Midsummer Night’s Dream for a  performance sequence in Act 2. The fairies flutter onto the stage in a small dance number and remain on stage during an altercation between a number of the Woodlands characters. This role features a larger amount of movement, suitable for females (and possibly males).
There are more than 20 regional cities still to come on the tour through regional Victoria, NSW and Queensland – including Bendigo, Ballarat, Caloundra, Proserpine, and Byron Bay.
