Objekt by Australian Dance Theatre

Australian Premiere  |  5-8th October

Following its world premiere in Germany, Australian Dance Theatre presents Objekt, an exhilarating work by ADT Artistic Director, Garry Stewart.
Exploring the objectification of humans, Objekt holds a lens up to the fundamental condition of humans and today’s socio-political reality – through viewing someone else as ‘the other’, we cease to recognise their humanity.
Created in collaboration with German dance company, Tanzmainz of Staatstheater Mainz, Objekt is a visually arresting work that blurs the borders between visual arts and dance, charged with an urgency that’s riveting to watch.
ADT is pleased to have new and former dancers joining the cast for the Australian premiere season of Objekt – Lina Limonsani, Jake McLarnon, Scott Ewen & Michael Ramsay.
Former ADT dancer Lina Limosani was a member of Garry Stewart’s original ADT ensemble in 2000. She was awarded the prestigious Peggy Van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship in 2015 and has been busy developing many of her own works both nationally and internationally. Lina is currently engaged in a three-year Australia & Scotland dance theatre collaboration to develop and present a new work, The Spinners. Lina also recently worked with ADT for its Ignition season with her piece One’s Wicked Ways and joins the cast again as a dancer this season.
Since leaving ADT at the end of 2015, Scott Ewan has been busy with a number of projects, including working with ilDance, performing throughout Israel and Sweden in Godlike. Scott was also selected as a choreographer for the 2016 World Dance Alliance in Seoul, South Korea, where he created Brutal Body. He also travelled through Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Spain and The Netherlands, teaching at various dance institutions.
Jake McLarnon has been dancing with Expressions Dance Company based in Brisbane. He made his debut with the company in the return season of When Time Stops, choreographed by Artistic Director Natalie Weir. He has also created choreography with the students of The Royal Academy of Dance and John Curtin College of the Arts.
Since his final performances with ADT in March, Michael Ramsey has spent some time with Dancenorth in Townsville, led by former ADT dancers Kyle Page and Amber Haines, and spent two months travelling through Japan.
ADT also welcomes some new faces from Adelaide College of the Arts – Felicity Boyd, Connor Gibson & Zoe Gay, as secondments in Objekt, as part of our creative partnership with the College.
Recommended for ages 12+, includes adult themes, strobe and hazing effects.
