AUDITION! DANCE CALL – SHORT & SWEET

The Short+Sweet Organisation are casting for experienced professional dancers to join Shorter+Sweeter Dance – A professional touring production that will showcase some of the ‘best of the fest’ from Short Sweet+Dance festivals over the last three years.
Shorter+Sweeter Dance will employ a company of 6 dancers (3 female and 3 male) feature ten works of varying style and genre, and tour regionally to three states VIC, NSW and QLD with rehearsals commencing mid August 2011.
The tour schedule runs from the 31st August through to mid October.
We are looking for a variety of highly skilled professional dance artists who are versatile, strong and energetic with advanced technique, performance quality and partnering skills across several disciplines. Artists will be required to perform a diverse selection of thematic works. Acting skills and characterisation ability-an advantage. We encourage mature, experienced dancers with tertiary or vocational training qualifications to attend.
Minimum audition age is 18. (Please note: experience necessary)
The Program will involve working with many of Australia’s leading choreographers-known for their work across all areas of both the contemporary and commercial dance industries.
The production will feature ten works that incorporate the following practises;
Contemporary dance
Dance theatre
Hip Hop
Parkour
Classical ballet
Tap
Musical theatre
Please Note: Not all artists will be required to perform all styles
*Female artists must have one short monologue prepared for call back, as one work may involve dialogue.
Dancers will be required to partake in a technical warm-up class before learning several short excerpts of repertoire across different styles. Please bring appropriate dance attire and footwear – Jazz sneakers, Ballet shoes, Pointe shoes, Tap shoes etc.
