Based on the Warner Bros. film written by the acclaimed, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, The Empire Strikes Back), with a book by Academy Award-winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman), this extraordinary production is currently dazzling audiences in London’s West-End, Germany and Utrecht.
THE BODYGUARD has just completed a sell-out tour throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe and later this year productions will open in Korea, Italy and the US. Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

AUDITION DATES

Rehearsals to commence March 2017 in Sydney followed by a Sydney Opening and National Tour.

CHARACTERS
Frank Farmer – A former CIA Agent Playing Age: Mid/late 30’s to late 40’s. He need not be a singer, just have the confidence to sing in front of a theatre audience.
Bill Devaney – Rachel Marron’s long standing Manager/Guardian Angel Playing Age: 50 – 60
Tony – Rachel Marron’s security Playing Age: 30 – 40
Sy Spector – Rachel Marron’s Publicist Playing Age: 35 – 45
Stalker – Rachel Marron’s Stalker Playing Age: 30 – 45
Ray Court – An experienced and knowledgeable CIA Agent Playing Age: Mid/late 30’s to late 40’s
Fletcher – Rachel Marron’s son Playing Age: 11yo Should be a strong boy singer with an innate knowledge of pop/soul idiom. Early Michael Jackson should be used as a reference. Needs to be able to sing a top E and have strong pitch and an ability to riff.
Female Vocalists – Backing Singer/Dancer/Actress Tall – above 5′ 6″ Playing Age: 20’s – 30’s Must be a strong singer, particularly soul/gospel and dancer is a plus. Range: G below mid C to G at top of stave Covers 1st/2nd for Rachel and Nicki Marron
Ensemble – Dancers/Swing Actors/Singers (Male and Female) Playing Age: 20 – 35yo Looking for strong commercial dancers with good jazz technique. Experience with street dance, acro, video styling, free style, Latin salsa partnering and Pas de Deux would be plus, but not a requirement. All male/female Ensemble will be required to sing.
AUDITION PREPARATION
All applicants will be required to prepare two (2) contrasting songs of their own choosing in the pop/soul genre. One up-tempo and one ballad, both demonstrating a good range.
