Great Scott! The time-travelling, Olivier Award-winning hit Back to the Future: The Musical is lighting up Sydney Lyric Theatre — and fans are in for an electrifying week of celebrations.
To mark Back to the Future Day (21 October) and George McFly Day (26 October), the production is rolling out a series of special fan events, including a queue-for-tickets morning on Friday 24 October and exclusive post-show cast signings on Sunday 26 October.
Critics Are Raving
Since opening night, the Australian premiere has thrilled audiences and critics alike.
The Daily Telegraph hailed it as “an exhilarating stage spectacular that exceeds all expectations,” while the Sydney Morning Herald described it as “a bonanza of ‘wow’ moments at the outer limits of the possible.”
This dazzling stage adaptation, from the creators of the original 1985 film, brings the beloved story of Marty McFly and Doc Brown to vivid, time-warping life — complete with rock ’n’ roll hits, cutting-edge effects, and, of course, the iconic flying DeLorean.
Fan Events: Your Chance to Join the Adventure
Queue Event – Friday 24 October
Fans who line up at the Sydney Lyric Theatre Box Office from 9:00am Friday 24 October will unlock access to a limited number of $26 tickets for the Sunday 26 October matinee and evening performances.
Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis (limit two per customer, ID required). Fans are encouraged to arrive early — because, as Doc Brown would say, “Your future is whatever you make it!”
Cast Signing – Sunday 26 October
Celebrate George McFly Day in style. Fans attending the matinee or evening performances can meet the cast post-show, snap photos, and collect autographs — a once-in-a-lifetime chance to connect with the stars behind Hill Valley’s most iconic characters.
Meet the Cast
The Australian production features an electrifying cast led by Tony Award winner Roger Bart as Doc Brown and breakout star Axel Duffy as Marty McFly.
They’re joined by Ashleigh Rubenach (Lorraine Baines), Javon King (Goldie Wilson / Marvin Berry), Thomas McGuane (Biff Tannen), and Ethan Jones (George McFly).
WAAPA graduate Ethan Jones has drawn glowing praise for his heartfelt portrayal of George, described as “heartfelt and humorous, a loveable underdog audiences can’t help but root for” (Theatre Thoughts).
