‘The show has enough voltage to light a small town for a year’ – Financial Times

Sydney Opera House today announced an extended season of the high-voltage, theatrical dance sensation, BLAZE as part of Summer at the House.
Six new shows have been added to the season which now runs from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 20 January with matinee performances also scheduled for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 January.
Following critically acclaimed tours of London, Paris, Berlin and Bangkok, BLAZE comes to Sydney with a cast of 16 dancers ready to pop, lock and break dance their way around the city and onto the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall stage to entertain crowds of young dance and music fans looking for a night of summer entertainment.
Featuring music by Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, David Guetta, and Snoop Dogg this family friendly show takes the raw energy and athleticism of the dancers and combines them with high-end production values. The set, designed by Es Devlin, is inspired by the chaos of a teenage bedroom and provides a canvas for technically sophisticated video and light projections that use pioneering video mapping technology.
BLAZE unites a creative and performance team that combine experience of having worked with the world’s top performers including The Rolling Stones, Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé.
Dancer and choreographer Van Laast is the acclaimed director of stage shows including Sister Act (2009), Mamma Mia! (2001), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (1993). He has also worked on film and TV projects including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Following its Sydney season, BLAZE will travel to the Arts Centre Melbourne as part of their summer season.
