AfterDark Theatre presents Cirque Cabaret SOCIETY at Melbourne Fringe

It’s Back, Badder and Bigger!

The ever elusive Circus Society are back and taking the stage at two incredible venues during this year’s Melbourne Fringe Festival. After their much lauded premiere season in 2018, AfterDark Theatre return with their adults-only  Society – featuring a sensational ensemble of highly skilled international Cirque artists, new acts, and a live four-piece band. It’s back, it’s badder, it’s bigger!

Influenced by the city of New Orleans and its best party on earth, the Mardi Gras, in the past these infamous festivities were hosted by secret societies competing to uphold the most lavish party in their quarter. Blending Cajun party culture, French exuberance, Creole Voodoo, Masquerade, and breathtaking acrobatics, Society at Melbourne Fringe also features iconic Australian band Funk Buddies. Set to be one of the Festival’s biggest party shows, nothing is off limits!

With a star-studded international cast including world renowned Latin Ballroom and Ballet dancers, a competitive Gymnast, Circus Oz and Flying Fruit Fly Circus alumni, and graduates of Melbourne’s prestigious National Institute of Circus Arts performing a mesmerising mix of contortion, acrobatics, aerial, manipulation, juggling, and dance across the evening, Society delivers audiences a visual feast like no other.

Running since 2007, AfterDark Theatre has built a solid reputation as a high-end design and production company, offering Australian Circus lovers a veritable feast of superior quality shows and events. Previous award-winning productions include Pants Down Circus, Sediment, BARBAROI, Element of Consequence, and The Boardwalk Republic; the original Southside hub during Melbourne Fringe.

Continuing with that trend, AfterDark Theatre now proudly presents Society, a colourful, vibrant, and joyous tribute to the Bourbon Street Circus and the wild nightlife of the New Orleans French Quarter.

Directed by Francesco Minniti, Society is performed by: Tully Fedorowjtsch, Simon Storey, Mimi LeNoire, Zachariah Johnson, Naomie Ding, Kara Ciezki, Funk Buddies, Veronica Waite, and Francesco Minniti.
