Thomas Dixon Centre

The Thomas Dixon Centre, home to Queensland Ballet, is opening its doors to invite community members to experience all that the centre has to offer.

A dream ten years in the making, the Thomas Dixon Centre is an extraordinary success story for Queensland Ballet, one which they want to celebrate.

The local community will be invited to step behind the scenes at the Thomas Dixon Centre with exclusive building tours, community dance classes and the opportunity to watch Queensland Ballet Company take class.

Artistic Director Li Cunxin AO said this community open day marks the realisation of a vision to make the centre a venue for all, a true community asset.

“More than an incredible home for Queensland Ballet, the new Thomas Dixon Centre is a centre for culture and community, so we are delighted to be opening our doors for all to enjoy,” Mr Li said.

A program of experiences to suit every age and appetite, there will be plenty of free activities with some special ticketed events.

“Make sure you mark it in your diary and bring along all your friends! It’s going to be a fun day full of activities, dance classes and behind-the-scenes glimpses into our creative world,” he said.

For those looking to party on into the night, Global Fusion – Into the Light will sweep you away on an incredible journey through dance, song and food with each phase representing the aspect of “light”, to honour the festival of Deepavali/Diwali.

Join us for our Community Day on Saturday 29 October at the Thomas Dixon Centre – Corner of Montague Road and Drake Street, West End. To register, click here.
