Fabricated

A new work by Lion Heart Dance Company

Young Melbourne dance company – Lion Heart –will present its second original program in August with Fabricated.
Fabricated unpacks the concept of ‘happily ever after’, where the audience is privy to a couples’ discovery of romance and where it takes them. Expectations are high and reality can be jarring but we maintain hope that love prevails.
The choreography is elegant and expertly interpreted by the six current company members: Priscilla Daniels, Kendal Davis, Andrew Liu, Conner Micallef, Jake O’Brien and Jodie Toogood.
These dancers are not only physically versatile but offer incredible emotional availability. They exemplify Lion Heart’s commitment to the craft of dance, tirelessly honing their technical and creative skills. More importantly, these dancers understand each other.
Lion Heart Dance Company has quickly become more than just a producer of independent dance works. It has evolved into a community of dancers who are dedicated to their art.
“When we come in for class the room pulsates with passion and I am so grateful to be amongst dancers who are striving to be the best that they can be.” Benjamin Curé, Director of Lion Heart Dance Company
As the Lion Heart community continues to grow, Curé is determined to hold onto the core vision for the company, to “fuel the Australian Dance industry with passionate artists and purposeful work.”
As part of the Fabricated programming Lion Heart Dance Company are giving young dancers unique opportunities to engage with our director and company members.
Secondary schools from across Melbourne have signed their students up to participate in our schools’ program, including a dance workshop, matinee viewing of Fabricated and cast Q & A.
Opportunities for viewing and discussing dance work are not often included in school curriculums and to create a safe space for students to explore that is precious. It is also crucial for expanding the dance industry. It is not too late for schools to express their interest in participating in this, or future programs.
