Western Sydney Dance Action transforms into FORM Dance Projects.
Western Sydney Dance Action is launching itself as FORM Dance Projects, representing the change and development the organisation has undergone and its position in the contemporary Australian arts landscape.
FORM Dance Projects has grown from a community arts entity into a professional arts organisation fostering dance culture in Western Sydney. Now more than ten years old, with support from Riverside Theatres and continuous funding from the NSW State Government, FORM Dance Projects delivers a vibrant artistic program. This includes four key areas: presenting (perFORM), education (transFORM), professional development (platFORM) and industry networking (inFORM).
FORM Dance Projects presents leading NSW and Australian choreographers and dancers in the annual Dance Bites performance season at Riverside Theatres. The popular education program provides access and participation in dance culture to secondary and tertiary students and emerging to established dancers through workshops and masterclasses. Professional development projects provide a platform for emerging choreographers and dancers to be mentored and receive performance opportunities. Industry networking disseminates information and connects community performers with industry professionals, such as CPAN, the Cultural Performing Arts Network.
FORM Dance Projects has contributed to provides pathways for emerging choreographers and dancers from Western Sydney through auspicing and co-producing creative development residencies and projects with production based outcomes. To present and nurture dance in Western Sydney FORM Dance Projects works with various partners including Riverside Theatres, Parramatta City Council, Fairfield City Council, Sydney Festival, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Dance Company, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and other Western Sydney arts and community organisations.
