FROM ORANGE TO THE BIG APPLEAustralia’s premier performing arts studio, Brent Street, is celebrating a milestone event with the announcement that student Ellie Swiatkiwsky has been accepted to study at The Julliard School of performing arts in New York City.
From a group of 600 hopefuls from around the globe Ellie was just one of 12 females offered a position at the world’s best school of performing arts after a gruelling audition process involving; interviews, ballet classes, modern classes, musicality tests, coaching rehearsals and a solo performance.
Ellie will join her new class mates in August when she moves into the schools campus located at the Lincoln Centre to start an intensive four years of study six days per week that will cover all styles of dance, technique, drama and music before achieving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and an amazing start to her career.
“I am extremely excited about starting at The Julliard School later in the year.” says Ellie. “I have been working towards this dream since I started performing at the age of five and I have an extremely supportive family who I am extremely grateful to for all of their support.
Moving to Sydney at 15 to further my studies at Brent Street was just the first step I needed to reach my goal of one day performing on Broadway.” she concluded.
Ellie joins a long list of world famous performers who have attended The Julliard School including; Kevin Kline, Mandy Patinkin, Robin Williams, Kevin Spacey, Patti Lupone, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Linney and Desperate Housewives’ Marcia Cross to name just a few.
Brent Street’s Artistic Director Jacqui Howard, says “The Julliard School and Brent Street both share the goal to identify and attract the most talented young performing artists and teachers from around the world and strive to ensure that financial considerations are not a deterrent to a student’s enrolment in their respective countries.
The entire Brent Street family is extremely proud of what Ellie has achieved and we are sure that she will fit in nicely when she starts her study in New York.” she concluded.
