Channel Nine will rally to help victims of Victoria’s horrendous killer bushfires with a live telethon, Australia Unites – The Victorian Bushfire Appeal on Thursday, February 12 at 8.30pm.
The broadcast which will feature Australia’s top entertainers, athletes and personalities will be hosted by Eddie McGuire. A number of musical theatre performers are expected to take part.
The special broadcast will raise money for the survivors of the Australia’s worst bushfires in history through the Red Cross’s 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
The Nine Network has been personally touched by the tragedy after veteran newsreader Brian Naylor and his wife Moiree perished in their family home at Kinglake north of Melbourne.
The CEO of the Nine Network, David Gyngell, said Channel Nine would do everything it could to assist those in need.
“All Australians have been affected by the enormity of this tragedy, and we are putting all our support behind the victims and their families to help them rebuild their lives,” he said.
