AS ROB MILLS DEPARTS, THE SEARCH IS ON FOR A NEW WARNER
Producers Howard Panter and John Frost announced today that Rob Mills would be departing the cast of the hit musical Legally Blonde towards the end of the Melbourne season of the show, and the search has started for a new star to step into the shoes of Warner Huntington III.
Rob Mills has been cast as Danny in John Frost’s new production of Grease, which opens at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre on August 27. Mills is sad to say goodbye to his Legally Blonde friends, but this was an opportunity too good to pass up. “I’d like to thank Howard Panter and John Frost for the opportunity of playing Warner in Legally Blonde,” he said. “I can honestly say this is the most fun I’ve ever had on stage. The cast and crew are awesome, and I’m going to miss them terribly. And Legally Blonde is such a fantastic show – I’ve loved being a part of it and the overwhelming audience response. It is going to be hard to say goodbye to my Legally Blonde cast mates and our enthusiastic audiences, but I can’t wait to slick back my hair and join the T-Birds in Grease.”
The search has started to find a new actor to portray the egotistical Warner Huntington III, the boyfriend of Elle Woods who she follows to Harvard Law School. An announcement will be made in coming weeks.
Brisbane has only four more weeks to see the multi-award winning Legally Blonde – it closes on April 21 at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, to transfer to Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from May 9.
Based on the hit movie of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical has taken the world by storm. Winner of seven major awards including the coveted Best New Musical 2011 (Olivier Awards®) this all dancing, romantic comedy is about knowing who you are and showing what you’ve got!
