MAKE UP AND DANCEDanceLife is very lucky to have Tina from Stand Out Cosmetics giving our members some tips when it comes to presentation. To check out Tina’s website go to www.standoutcosmetics.com.au.
Make up and dancing goes hand in hand. Just like dance shoes often need replacing, so to does your make up. You wouldn’t’ dream of performing in your ballet shoes that had holes in them or executing a tap exam without taps and neither should you be putting old make up on your skin.
There are lots of little hidden nasties in old make up that you can’t see that may be causing some problems, so let’s get out you dance make up case and go through some things. Firstly make three groups.
• To Keep
• Throw away &
• Possible salvation!
Put everything that has dried up or has been there for more than 2 years in the throw away pile. Everything that still looks good in the keep pile and items that have no lids or is almost gone in the save pile. You can always put left over’s in smaller containers or bottles.
Make up HAS got a shelf life and it’s easy not to replace items when there is still product left, so doing a weekly or monthly check will be a lot easier than a mad rush 5 minutes before concert time!
Dance Check List:

  • Items such as foundations, concealers, powders, eye shadows & blush should be changed between 1-2 years.
  • Items that are of high risk such as lip sticks and pencils should be changed every 6 months.
  • Mascaras & eye creams regardless if they are empty or not should be changed every 6 months or after an infection such as conjunctivitis.
  • Clean any spills in your case as soon as you can.
