The Australian Calisthenics Theatre Company (ACTC) is set to bring its acclaimed arena spectacular Mother Nature to Melbourne on 5 December, taking over The Plenary at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Direct from Adelaide, this groundbreaking production reimagines traditional calisthenics as a powerful contemporary art form — blending athletic precision with theatrical scale, live music, and striking visual storytelling.
Showcasing a cast of 120 world-class calisthenics athletes, the production celebrates the beauty, balance, and emotional energy of the natural world. With elegant costumes, intricate formations, and sweeping choreography, the ensemble moves as one, creating a living landscape that commands the audience’s attention.
A 12-piece orchestra drives the experience with a high-voltage soundtrack featuring original compositions and reimagined hits from Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Coldplay, ACDC, and favourites from Frozen and Wicked.

ACTC Artistic Director Brooke Brown says the company is transforming perceptions of the sport:
“Calisthenics is normally a sport based on rigid competition. We’re breaking through that by highlighting its theatrical side in an arena setting. Mother Nature is about showcasing the strength and power of this predominantly female sport… and giving dancers across Australia the chance to perform on a commercial stage without the pressure of competition.”
The 90-minute production unfolds across six acts, using two expansive stages, immersive visuals, and breathtaking effects. The cast brings together elite athletes, emerging talent, and young performers from around the country.
Critics have praised the work as a triumph of imagination and artistry:
“The Australian Calisthenics Theatre Company have proven just how powerful and beautiful calisthenics can be. Mother Nature is a triumph of talent, passion, and imagination.” — The Scoop ★★★★★
“The performance is so enrapturing that after two scenes, you couldn’t blame yourself for not realising the performers had already changed costumes multiple times.” — What A Show ★★★★
Beyond the production, Brooke Brown has become a leading advocate for calisthenics as a uniquely Australian art form — broadening its reach, creating new pathways for performers, and nurturing development opportunities nationwide. With over 35 years of experience, state and national representation, and her own calisthenics club, she continues to shape the future of the sport.
Mother Nature marks ACTC’s second major production and continues the company’s mission to elevate calisthenics to new artistic heights.
