Opera Australia and legendary producer John Frost for Crossroads Live are bringing Julie Andrews’ celebrated production of My Fair Lady back to the stage in 2026/27 — and auditions are now open.
This lavish Lerner & Loewe classic, co-directed by Karen Johnson Mortimer with choreography by Tony Award-winner Christopher Gattelli, will tour Sydney and Melbourne across late 2026 and early 2027.
What the Creative Team is Looking For
The casting team is seeking versatile performers to fill both principal and ensemble roles. Applicants must demonstrate:
- Strong vocal ability in a style suited to the early 20th-century musical theatre period.
- Strong movement skills, with individuality and characterisation.
- Professional theatre experience or recent graduation from a tertiary musical theatre program.
Auditionees must be 18+ by 1 August 2026 and hold current Australian working rights.
Key Roles
Principal roles include:
- Professor Henry Higgins – Baritone, middle-aged professor of phonetics.
- Eliza Doolittle – Soprano, a Cockney flower girl determined to rise above her station.
- Colonel Pickering – Baritone, retired British officer, warm and eccentric.
- Alfred P. Doolittle – Baritone, Eliza’s humorous and unashamed father.
- Freddy Eynsford-Hill – Tenor, upper-class suitor smitten with Eliza.
- Plus Mrs Pearce, Mrs Higgins, and other featured characters.
The ensemble will portray everything from Cockney flower sellers to Ascot race patrons and Embassy Ball guests, with opportunities for featured singing and small speaking roles.
