NSW Schools Spectacular  |  27 & 28 November

To Win a Family Pass Read On …

This year’s Schools Spectacular – orchestrated by the NSW Department of Education – will see 51 featured artists perform alongside 3600 school students from over 400 public schools across NSW.
This year will also be the very last time the Schools Spectacular will be held in Qantas Credit Union Arena, otherwise known as the Sydney Entertainment Centre, after 32 years of Schools Spectacular performances.
Back in 1983 when the Entertainment Centre was built, it was arranged for the NSW Education Department to stage a ‘Schools Concert’ to test the acoustics. Seven-and-a-half thousand public school students and teachers filled the seats. The concert was so successful it was decided to stage an annual school’s concert. The next step was a masterstroke – the appointment of Mary Lopez, a music teacher from Epping Boys’ High as director of the show.
To bid farewell to this iconic venue, 51 featured artists will join a 1,500-voice choir, 80 piece symphony orchestra, 2,000 dancers and various marching bands to salute this amazing legacy.
Tens (if not hundreds!) of thousands of public school students have now benefited from the opportunity to be a part of the Schools Spectacular. Thousands of public school teachers have provided creativity, inspiration and guidance. In terms of sheer size, scale and scope, it is unequalled in the world. This iconic cultural event involves students of varying ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds, hailing from country, metropolitan and isolated regions of NSW.
