STOMP 13 – REVIEW

Some shows are good, others great – and then there is something so out of the box that you leave the theatre buzzed by the sheer brilliance of the concept and execution …

YOU MUST SEE STOMP 13!

STOMP is like nothing else you’ve ever experienced as a theatre buff! If you’re expecting a traditional dance or musical show, you are in for a surprise! The musical element is self-made on stage with cast members using anything and everything from exceptionally intricate body percussion to match-sticks, tin cans, trolleys, pipes, brooms and bins to create a rocking soundtrack. Dance is a hybrid of urban styles of tapping, hip hop and freestyling between equally animated props. The collective rhythms of stomping, tapping feet, clicking, clapping hands and beating, twisting objects creates the most eccentric yet tantalising foundation to this highly entertaining show!
STOMP is a unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy. Created in 1991 in Brighton UK, it was the result of a ten-year collaboration between its creators, Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas. Since then the show has franchised with several touring teams across the world including long-term residency in both the West End (London) and Broadway (New York).
STOMP has been touring Australia since August and has already been to Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra.  If you don’t have your tickets yet for the very short Sydney season, STOMP is playing at Theatre Royale in King Street – be quick to get your tickets!
