Elevating dance education in Australia, Sydney Dance Company proudly announces its inaugural Teacher Training Program, a new initiative dedicated to the art and practice of dance education.
Building on over a decade of experience in education through the Pre-Professional Year (PPY), Accredited Short Courses, Professional Intensives, Youth Ensembles and other professional advanced training, Sydney Dance Company’s Teacher Training is uniquely positioned to meet the requirements of modern dance education, equipping teachers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to inspire the next generation of dancers.
Commencing in July 2025, Teacher Training combines weekly theory lectures and tutorials, offered face-to-face or virtually and includes four immersive, week-long practical intensives. The program is delivered part-time over 12 months, with the flexibility to extend to 18 months.
Through the program, aspiring and experienced dance educators will gain expertise in developing movement practices, fostering safe and inclusive learning environments and translating professional knowledge into dynamic teaching experiences.
With an integrated approach that addresses both the physiological and psychological aspects of movement instruction, the program equips participants with practical teaching methodologies and the skills to inspire artistic curiosity in students of all levels. Focused on empowering teachers to create both physically and emotionally safe learning environments, Sydney Dance Company aims to set a new benchmark for excellence in dance education.
Set against the backdrop of Sydney Dance Company’s world-class facilities at Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, the Teacher Training program builds upon Sydney Dance Company’s enduring reputation in dance education.
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded the nationally recognised CUA40320 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, preparing them for meaningful and impactful careers in dance education. Sydney Dance Company is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #45863).
