TALIA ON FINALE OF SYTYCD AMERICATalia performed her long awaited solo last night on the Finale of SYTYCD America Season 5. See it above. Below we have an interview with Talia about working with the American choreographer Sonia Tayeh on her routine. This interview was conducted before her performance last night.
TALENTED Talia Fowler is in Los Angeles preparing for one of the greatest challengesof her dancing career.
The 19-year-old from Warner will perform a solo routine during the final of So You Think You Can Dance America, to be held on Thursday.
A live television audience of more than 20 million viewers is expected to watch the show.
This remarkable opportunity was part of Talia’s prize for winning SYTYCD and being crowned Australia’s favourite dancer.
“I was scared at the thought of going about a week ago,” said Talia before leaving for Los Angeles on Wednesday. “But now I’m excited.
“I’ve been able to choose a choreographer (Sonia Tayeh) to work with and I hope we can come up with a routine for the show that’s new, fresh and suits my style.
“It will be one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, equal to performing in the Australian version of the show. But this time there will be two countries looking at me and the pressure is on to get it right.”
Talia, the Quest Community Newspapers Arts/Education YoungStar winner for 2008-2009, is hoping her performance in Los Angeles will give her “exposure” and open a few career doors.
“I’m going to audition for training programs while I’m over there before looking for company work,” Talia said.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a while and am looking for diversity in my classical and contemporary dancing.”
Talia has just finished touring Australia with the SYTYCD show and said it was “fabulous” to perform in front of thousands of fans.
After the US trip she will return to work at the auditions of the SYTYCD 2010 competition.
