For the first time in its history, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour (HOSH) has announced an extra week for its 2026 season of The Phantom of the Opera, responding to unprecedented demand. The iconic musical, opening 27 March 2026, will now run until Sunday 3 May, offering Sydney audiences more chances to experience this record-breaking harbour spectacular.
Originally premiered in 2022, this production became HOSH’s highest-grossing show, and four years later, advance sales are already soaring. Directed by Simon Phillips, with costumes and sets by Gabriela Tylesova and choreography by Simone Sault, the outdoor staging brings a fresh sense of grandeur to the musical’s defining moments – including the iconic mirror, the Phantom’s lair, and the chandelier – on a stage constructed over Sydney Harbour.
With the Sydney Opera House as a stunning backdrop, a live orchestra, nightly fireworks, and pop-up restaurants, HOSH offers a theatrical experience like no other. This is the only place to witness a large-scale Phantom of the Opera production under the stars.
Tickets for the additional week is now on sale. Bookings are available via opera.org.au/harbour
