Long-term partners Rio Tinto and Black Swan State Theatre Company are thrilled to launch Rio Tinto $20 Tickets – a new low cost ticketing scheme available to all West Australians.

The initiative was launched early February in the Studio Underground at the State Theatre Centre of WA, and is a new concept for major performing arts companies in Western Australia.  For Rio Tinto it will complement the support for Black Swan’s core work through their long-term Principal Partnership.

Heavily subsidised by Rio Tinto $20 tickets (more than 70% of the total ticket price) aim to provide access to the theatre to those that, for whatever reason, find a theatre experience prohibitive.

Through Rio Tinto Tickets the company looks forward to welcoming new patrons to the Black Swan State Theatre Company. The 2015 season has something for everyone and is guaranteed to provide a night out like no other.

Some FAQs about the tickets:

Q: What are Rio Tinto $20 Tickets?

A: Rio Tinto $20 Tickets is a Black Swan State Theatre Company initiative developed with Principal Partner, Rio Tinto.

Black Swan have been in partnership with Rio Tinto for over 17 years and over this period, Rio Tinto has provided support to Black Swan at critical points in the company’s growth and in developing a more sustainable business model. With Rio Tinto’s renewed support as Principal Partner, Rio Tinto will have invested over $3.2 million to Black Swan over this time.

The purpose of Rio Tinto Tickets is to provide access to the theatre to those that, for whatever reason, find a theatre experience prohibitive. Not only financially – but also those who may like to come to the theatre but find it a bit daunting. For many this will be their first theatre experience and we want to make it accessible and enjoyable.

Q: How do I access a Rio Tinto $20 ticket?

A: You can only purchase these tickets online through Eventopia, go to http://www.eventopia.co/

Q: When do tickets go on sale and how far in advance can they be purchased?

A: Tickets go on sale 2 weeks prior to the opening of each of Black Swan’s productions presented in the Heath Ledger Theatre in 2015. The first Rio Tinto $20 tickets will go on sale for the production of Dinner by Moira Buffini through Eventopia at 9am on Wednesday 4 March. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Register your interest at www.bsstc.com.au/riotinto20tix

Q: How many tickets can I buy?

A: There is a limit of 2 tickets per person per production.

Q: What plays can I see?

A: Any of the 5 main stage productions presented by Black Swan State Theatre Company in the Heath Ledger Theatre in 2015 which include: Dinner, Glengarry Glen Ross, Blithe Spirit, Extinction and Next to Normal (excluding opening nights). You can learn more about each production including venue and running times by clicking on the above links.

Q: Who is eligible?

A: Everyone. There is a limit of two tickets per show, but no restriction on the number of times people purchase these throughout the year.

If you have anymore questions you may call them on 6212 9300 or email  or visit their website www.bsstc.com.au/riotinto20tix
