Full Cast of Pitch Black Musical Announced

Opens May 10

The remaining cast members for the upcoming Australian Premiere of the bold new stage production of AMERICAN PSYCHO – THE MUSICAL have been announced by producers Producers BB-Arts Entertainment & Two Doors Productions.

Playing at the Hayes Theatre Co from 10 May 2019, AMERICAN PSYCHO – THE MUSICAL is based on the thriller novel by Bret Easton Ellis of the same name, which also inspired the 2000 film starring Christian Bale.

The chilling, iconic role of Patrick Bateman, as previously announced, will be played by stage and screen star Ben Gerrard (ABC’s Outland, I Am My Own Wife). Joining Ben, in the role of his on-stage girlfriend Evelyn WIlliams, is Shannon Dooley (Diana, Poster Girl). Sheridan Harbridge (Calamity Jane, Muriel’s Wedding) will be playing Courtney Lawrence, Evelyn’s best friend. Blake Appelqvist (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Kinky Boots) will play Patrick’s antagonist Paul Owen, while Loren Hunter (Evie May, Rent) will play the role of Jean, Patrick’s secretary. Amy Hack (Cry-Baby) will play the role of Sabrina while Daniel Raso (Jersey Boys, Matilda), Julian Kuo (West Side Story, Spring Awakening), Liam Nunan (Orphans, Miracle City) and Kristina McNamara (West Side Story, The Faust)  play the roles of David Van Patten, Craig McDermott, Luis Carruthers and Christine, respectively.

AMERICAN PSYCHO – THE MUSICAL boasts an impressive Australian creative team comprising the 2018 Sydney Theatre Award Winner for Best Director of a Musical, Alexander Berlage (Cry Baby), Musical Director Andrew Worboys (Sweet Charity, Assassins), Set Design by Isabel Hudson (Cry-Baby), Costume Designer Mason Browne (Cry-Baby), and Sound Designer Nicholas Walker (Assassins, Blood Brothers) and Choreographer Yvette Lee (Moonshadow).

AMERICAN PSYCHO – THE MUSICAL tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young, handsome and wealthy investment banker living in the epicentre of excess, Manhattan, during the Wall Street boom of the late 1980s. With impeccable taste and unquenchable desires, Patrick, our unreliable narrator, and his elite group of friends spend their days in designer labels in chic restaurants and exclusive clubs. But at night, Patrick takes part in a darker indulgence, and his glamorous facade of sanity starts to slip…

With a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) and music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) and featuring classic 80s hits from Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, New Order and Huey Lewis and the News, AMERICAN PSYCHO – THE MUSICAL is a pitch black comedy about what it means to be alive in the world we live in.

“I guess in a way, we are sort of a photo negative of Hamilton, the anti-American dream… Instead of the birth of the nation, it’s the death of the nation….” – Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa

“Disturbingly sexy, then unexpectedly moving” – USA TODAY
