Parisian Show Girl Glamour Heading to Canberra

Starring Aussie Former Moulin Rouge Star with Special Guest Illusionist Michael Boyd

TWO SHOWS ONLY!

Marissa Burgess, the longest-serving performer in the Moulin Rouge‘s 120-year history stars in the Australian burlesque extravaganza Cabaret de Paris, coming to Canberra in October.

Be transported by the atmosphere and excitement of a Parisian-themed revue with a parade of international entertainers and the daring beauty of exquisitely bejewelled exotic dancers.

Marissa Burgess

Australian-born and trained Marissa is a legendary showgirl, with a string of accolades to her name, who became the toast of Paris and the subject of many French TV talk shows and a US documentary. Read DanceLife’s 2016 interview with Marissa here.

Burgess says, “Cabaret de Paris brings all the magic of a lavish French cabaret show with breath-taking dancers, beguiling music and an array of international guest artists, including aerialists, pole dancers, illusionists and of course the famous French cancan dancers.”

The 15-member Cabaret de Paris cast includes the crème de la crème of showgirls from around the world; dancers who have graced the stages of France’s most famous cabaret revues. The show features over quarter of a million dollars’ worth of lavish costumes crafted in traditional Parisian style, with feathers, sequins, rhinestones and jewels (some covering barely anything). A topless burlesque revue, some aspects of the show may offend so viewer discretion is advised.

Additionally, acclaimed illusionist and Australia’s Got Talent finalist Michael Boyd will perform some of his greatest illusions, mind-boggling disappearances and incredible magic that will keep audiences guessing and have the whole family entranced..

Cabaret de Paris is choreographed by Todd Patrick, one of Australia’s dance leaders who began his formidable career with Disney, before working for Versace, Dior, Issey Miyaki, Gucci and Chanel, across Europe and Asia. As a dancer he worked internationally, one of the highlights being the principal in The Lido in Paris.

The show has played to sell-out crowds all over Australian and New Zealand, and is now hitting the Canberra stage for 2 shows only, promising to bring back the elegance and glamour of Paris.

“A burlesque-hip hop-circus mash-up, a glamorous package of exotic dancers, illusionists, adagio performers and a razor-sharp resident clown” – XS Entertainment
“A fun, old-fashioned, glamorous burlesque extravaganza” – In Daily, Adelaide
“A truly magnificent evening’s entertainment which brought a world-class show from Paris” – Aussietheatre.com
