The legendary musical CATS has arrived in Adelaide for a strictly limited run, playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 20 September to 12 October — with no extension possible.
Fresh from its Sydney season at the Theatre Royal, where it wowed audiences and critics alike, this 40th Anniversary production has been hailed as “inexplicably magical” (First Class Magazine) and “an immersive spectacle” (Sydney Morning Herald).
Leading the star-studded cast is Gabriyel Thomas as Grizabella, whose haunting performance of Memory has been described as “spine-tingling.” Joining her are audience favourite Todd McKenney as Bustopher Jones/Asparagus, classical star Mark Vincent as Old Deuteronomy, Lucy Maunder as Jellylorum, Des Flanagan as Rum Tum Tugger, and Jarrod Draper as Munkustrap. Beloved cast member Leigh Archer also returns as Jennyanydots.
The full company features a powerhouse ensemble of Australian talent, delivering breathtaking choreography, vibrant costumes, and of course Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless score — from playful showstoppers to the unforgettable Memory, recorded by over 150 artists worldwide.
Producer John Frost says:
“Adelaide, it’s time to let the memory live again with this iconic production, performed by a purr-fect cast. CATS is at Her Majesty’s for only three weeks, so buy your tickets before they sell out!”
Since its premiere in London in 1981, CATS has played in more than 50 countries, been translated into 23 languages, and seen by over 81 million people worldwide. With seven Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a record-breaking history on both the West End and Broadway, it remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
