Brother and Sister Cabaret Sensation Heads to Melbourne & Canberra

Sydney Sold Out!

After already sold-out shows at The Hayes Theatre Co in Sydney this October, Siblingship will be touring to both Melbourne and Canberra regions, at Prahran’s Chapel Off Chapel and Queanbeyan’s The Q Theatre, after

Siblingship follows the childhood journey of Daniel Assetta (West Side Story, The Book of Mormon, Cats) and Chiara Assetta (Handa’s West Side Story, Good Omens, The Dismissal), two real-life, all-singing, all-dancing, Italian-Australian siblings.

Through classic show tunes and a splash of pop music, this dynamic duo explores the ‘rules’ that make the world’s most unique relationship work. Siblingship is a cabaret for everyone who ever fought with, told secrets to, stood up for, laughed and cried with, absolutely couldn’t stand – but always loved and could never live without – their siblings.

“Creating a show that captures the relationship that I have with my sister, Chiara, has been a dream of mine,” said Daniel. “Chiara and I grew up in a close Italian family. I started singing and dancing from the age of four and Chiara quickly followed in my footsteps. Even though there are three years in the age gap between the two of us, we are each other’s best friends and I couldn’t imagine life without her”.

They have been a double act since 1999, taking out the top prize in every talent show and performing at all family events and Italian festivals, but even after being in many professional musicals over the years, they believe that this will be their biggest performance yet. The show encompasses the rules that they believe are imperative to live harmoniously as siblings, in the hope that others will resonate with their stories of growing up as a competitive but loving brother and sister.

Chiara and Daniel Assetta

Daniel Assetta began his training at the Glenda Yee School of Dance and graduated from ED5 International with a Diploma of Performing Arts. He has recently opened West Side Story as ‘Tony’ at The Sydney Opera House and has been alternating the role throughout the Australian/International tour. He made his musical theatre debut in WICKED and then went on to perform the reimagined role of the ‘Rum Tum Tugger’ in the Australian/New Zealand tour of CATS. Other professional stage credits include: ‘Elder Young’ in The Book of Mormon; ‘Luke’ in The Gathering; ‘The Ziegfeld Tenor’ in Funny Girl; Follies in Concert; Curtains; Carmen and Twisted Broadway concerts. Daniel was recognised as the recipient of the prestigious Rob Guest Endowment Award in 2015, after winning the ‘Playbill Future Prospect Award’ in 2014. He has studied in New York under some of the most established names in the industry, including Craig Carnellia, Tom Burke and Jen Waldman, and performed in the company of the greatest Broadway stars in the renowned Elsie Fest, and the Michael Mott & Friends concert.

Chiara Assetta began her training at GY Dance in Sydney before graduating from ED5International in 2016 with a Diploma of Performing Arts under the direction of William A Forsythe. Recent credits include Handa Opera Australia’s West Side Story on Sydney Harbour, in which she played the role of Teresita and the Choreographer for The Dismissal: A New Australian Musical. Further theatre credits include, the role of Brian in the musical adaption of Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens, the role of Bride of Frankenstein, Hip and Hop in the iconic Universal Monsters Live and Frog choir vocalist in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Her film and television credits include Lynx TVC, Dance Academy and So You Think You Can Dance with Kelly Rowland. As a vocalist, she has just recently sung the national anthem for the opening of the Bankwest Stadium, heard as a backing vocalist for P&O Cruises Twice Upon a Time and also provided backing vocals for Delta Goodrem on The Voice and The Footy Show.
