Hello angels and welcome to today’s read! Performance anxiety can be such a common experience among performers, and in the human experience in general.
The pounding heart, the self doubts, the fears of something going wrong or somehow making a mistake, the racing thoughts about what others will think of your performance, choices, whether you’re ‘good enough’ etc.
It drains a huge amount of energy from us and, I don’t know about you, but it sucks the joy out of performing – the thing we love with our whole hearts!!
What I have found to not only help this experience but transform it into peace, excitement and trust is knowing how to make our inner child feel safe (the one who’s deeply afraid of losing love, being rejected & abandoned etc) and knowing where to put our focus. Mastering our mind and our energy – is the invisible half of the game.
The three things I do to alchemise performance anxiety into peace, ease and my best performance:
- Remembering that it’s not about me.
It’s about the show/ story I’m in service to (whether I’m onstage, auditioning, in rehearsals, in class). It’a about the audience feeling moved and connected. It’s about bringing to life the essence of the show and the choreography etc
No one has me under a microscope (it’s usually our own ego/ inner child that does).
- Divine Inspiration and support are available to me at any moment.
I don’t have to do this completely alone. I can shift my focus to opening my channel to divine inspiration and support, anytime.
The thing that is your gift as a performer gets to flow through you and delight you and the audience/ panel – sometimes we just get so in our head that we forget to tap into our innate receiving mode for it.
- Actively co creating the outcome I desire with the Universe
Visualising and feeling in my cells that my desired performance – the one I would be most proud of and satisfied by in my being – has already happened. Feeling the feelings of it already having happened and amplifying this through every cell in my body for around 20 seconds – a few minutes.
Then, surrendering it to the Universe (or whatever higher power you may resonate with) and giving myself love, safety, acceptance and non judgement – no matter what happens in the audition/ performance.
I can’t wait for you to try these out for yourself! They truly changed my experience of performing into feeling safe, supported and at home, like nothing else. Feel free to play with the frame work and see what your inner guidance inspires you with too!
And if you’d like to share your experience, leave a comment or a dm over at my instagram @manifesting_with_grace to share how it went for you! It makes my day hearing your wins and aha moments!!
To your performing gifts shining as they were always meant to and to you feeling peace, excitement, trust and that you’re home onstage,
Until next time,
much love xx
Grace.
