Bursting with glamour, charm and all the iconic moments audiences know and love, Pretty Woman: The Musical arrives at Theatre Royal Sydney this November, promising a feel-good theatrical event filled with heart, humour and high-voltage style.
Based on the beloved 1990 film, this stage adaptation reimagines the modern fairytale through a dazzling Broadway lens. At the helm is two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell, whose direction and choreography (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray) ensure the production brims with kinetic energy and visual flair. The electrifying original score comes from Grammy® winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, delivering power ballads and pop-driven musical storytelling, while the book is penned by the film’s original creative team, Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton.
At the centre of the story are Vivian Ward and Edward Lewis — two unlikely soulmates whose chance encounter becomes a journey of self-discovery, vulnerability and unexpected love. Their romance unfolds against a backdrop of big emotions, bold choreography and cinematic spectacle, capturing the spirit of the film while embracing the scale of live musical theatre.
A star-powered Australian cast
Leading the Australian production is ARIA Award-winning singer, songwriter and actress Samantha Jade as Vivian Ward, bringing contemporary star power and emotional nuance to the role. Opposite her is Ben Hall as Edward Lewis, whose musical theatre pedigree anchors the production’s romantic core.
They are joined by a vibrant supporting cast including Michelle Brasier as the sharp-witted and fiercely loyal Kit de Luca, and Tim Omaji as Happy Man / Mr Thompson, fresh from his acclaimed performance as Ike Turner in TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. Completing the principal cast is Douglas Hansell as Philip Stuckey, alongside a dynamic ensemble of performers who fill the stage with movement, character and irresistible energy.
A modern fairytale for the stage
Featuring all the film’s most memorable scenes, lines and costumes — alongside spectacular new theatrical moments — Pretty Woman: The Musical balances nostalgia with fresh invention. The result is a production that celebrates romance, reinvention and the joy of believing in yourself, wrapped in high-gloss Broadway spectacle.
Bold, fun and unapologetically romantic, this is a musical designed to lift spirits, ignite nostalgia and send audiences out into the night smiling.
