Project Z

Application Close on June 3

PROJECT Z is a youth-led, collaborative, screen dance project for 15 young people.

They are looking for dancers, choreographers and creatives ages 14 -25 years from diverse backgrounds, training and experiences interested in dance on screen, expanding their artistic practice and working collaboratively with professionals and other young people. You don’t need to be a highly accomplished or experienced dancer. We value passion, unique perspectives and creativity. Young people who identify as LGBTIQ+ and culturally and linguistically diverse to apply.

PROJECT Z is facilitated by winner of the Telstra/ Australian Ballet Emerging Choreographer of the Year (2022) Erin O’Rourke with screen dance artist Cobie Orger and dance artist/producer Chelsea Byrne. Over 1 week participants will choreograph, story board and shoot the film, unpacking their perspectives on “EXPLORATION as a rebellion against capitalist culture and social norms”. All collaborators will have access to raw footage for their own experimentation and receive discounts to screen dance workshops and events at Dancehouse throughout the year. A premiere screening will take place in November.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE: 3 June 2024
PROJECT DATES: 8 – 13 July
COST: This is a FREE program! Participants will be asked to assist with a small amount of fundraising.
