ZHIVAGO STARTS TONIGHT

The much anticipated new musical production DOCTOR ZHIVAGO begins performances tonight at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, ahead of the Gala Premiere on Saturday 19 February.
Producer John Frost is thrilled with the way the show is shaping up. “DOCTOR ZHIVAGO is truly wonderful, a landmark show for 2011. Australian audiences are in for an emotional journey. On stage we have an extraordinary cast of both rising young stars and theatre greats led by Anthony Warlow, and behind the scenes we have the best of Australian and US creative talent, led by director Des McAnuff and composer Lucy Simon,” Frost said. “Boris Pasternak’s novel has been brought to the stage with great care, with love and passion, and with incredible expertise. I am very proud of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO.”
Director Des McAnuff promises audiences a “visually astonishing production; I think it is quite magical. One of the most important things in staging this novel is to protect the intimacy of the love story and the love triangle between Zhivago and Tonia and Lara and we have done that.”
DOCTOR ZHIVAGO is brought to the stage with generous support from Events NSW, the City of Sydney, Sofitel Wentworth, Qantas Holidays, Vodka O, De Bortoli Wines, 2GB/2CH, MAC cosmetics and Roses Only.
Following this premiere season of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO at the Lyric Theatre, Star City, it plays at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne from April 9.
