DANCE MAKES A SHORT+SWEET RETURN

Following the very successful 2009 season, SHORT SWEET+DANCE returns in April/ May 2010!
The season will run April through May 2010 and will showcase the work of over forty professional choreographers and feature many established and emerging performing artists.
Over three weeks, varying styles of dance and dance theatre will be presented, incorporating everything from contemporary, body weather, physical theatre, ballroom, hip-hop, lyrical, classical, adagio, cultural dance, break dance and tap – there is a work to suit every taste! Choreographic works of all styles and thematic intent are encouraged, however, the work must be innovative, well developed, and of a professional standard. SS+Dance, encourages works by Indigenous artists and works that celebrate our multicultural community.
Short Sweet+Dance is part of the ever expanding Short+Sweet family. The festival provides a much-needed platform for choreographers and dancers to experiment with new ideas and movement – an opportunity that can unearth emerging talent as well as create new audiences for dance.
The 2010 festival shall introduce an exciting partnership between Short+Sweet and Western Sydney Dance Action (WSDA), who together will co-produce and present Short Sweet+Dance at two prominent Sydney venues -with a finale being held at Riverside Theatre’s 750 seat
proscenium arch theatre!
Short Sweet+Dance are now seeking submissions from choreographers and artists to participate in the 2010 season. All genres of dance will be considered, so long as the choreography is innovative and original. For more information on the festival and HOW TO ENTER go to www.shortandsweet.org or www.wsda.org.au ENTRIES CLOSE 5PM FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 2009
