First Time in Sydney the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre to perform classic Swan Lake & The Nutcracker

WIN TICKETS to The Nutcracker on Christmas Eve!

As part of its 2016 International tour, the internationally-acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre will come to Sydney in December for the very first time, to present two full-length classic productions of the world’s most loved ballet, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and his most enchanting and magical ballet of all time The Nutcracker.
This is classic Russian ballet as it was meant to be seen with a company of 60!

COMPETITION FOR DANCELIFE READERS! To win two tickets to see The Nutcracker on a special Christmas Eve performance at 11am on 24 December at Lyric Theatre Sydney, please email with your name and contact number. Entries close 9 December.

First performed in St Petersburg in 1895, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake is the classic love story between Prince Siegfried and the Swan Princess Odette divided by the villainous sorcerer Rothbart in a story where true love conquers all.  With its spectacular and dramatic Ballroom scene, sublime music and deeply moving story, Swan Lake is a ballet that has enthralled audiences for generations.
An adored Christmas tradition around the world, The Nutcracker is testament to Tchaikovsky’s enduring and much loved music and the magical power of storytelling. This full length production brings to life the magical tale of young Clara and her Nutcracker Prince and their fantastical adventures into a world where dreams come to life.

ALMOST SOLD OUT! The strictly limited season of the world’s two most loved ballets with sumptuous sets, glorious costumes and a company of 60 on stage premieres at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 21 December following seasons in Adelaide and Melbourne before heading to New Zealand.
Founded in 1994, the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is renowned globally not just for its beautiful Vaganova trained dancers but also for its stunning, grand, full-length productions.  The Company travels internationally complete with breathtaking scenery and magnificent costumes. The Company has in its repertoire the classical masterpieces Giselle, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, Les Sylphides, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty and of course The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. The incredibly popular company is in such demand that it gives 200 to 250 performances every year.
As a producer with decades of experience in presenting quality Russian ballet in Australia, Andrew Guild said, “The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is truly traditional Russian classical ballet at its very best.  This is the real thing, grand-scale Russian ballet.  A complete classical full-length work. If you see only one ballet in your life, let it be this.”
“The St Petersburg Ballet has left a considerable mark on the history of world ballet.” Danse Magazine (Paris France)
