12 Finalists Announced for the Genée

Sunday 11th December | Sydney Opera House

Congratulations to the 12 dancers chosen to compete in the Final of the 2016 Genée International Ballet Competition!
Out of 88 participants, the following have been selected to vie for the prestigious Gold Medal at the Final.
AUSTRALIAN REPRESENATIVES:
#3    Madison Ayton (15y) – trained by Annette Roselli Dance Academy
#22  Talia Fidra (15y) – trained by Heidi Langford & Claudia Dean
#51  Maeve Nolan (16y) – trained by Marie Walton Mahon
#55  Evelyn Roberts (18y) – trained by Diana de Vos
#60  Jessi Seymour (15y) – trained by Hilary Kaplan
#71  Alexandra Walton (15y) – trained by Teresa Johnson
#78  Brayden Gallucci (17y) – trained by Hilary Kaplan
#84  Joshua Price (16y) – trained by Janice Heale

INTERNATIONAL REPS:
#36  Mamiko Inoue (18y, Japan) – trained by Satomi Morikawa
#70  Jade Wallace (18y, Britain) – trained by Denise Whiteman
#85  Hamish Scott (18y, Britain) – trained by Sarah Dickinson
#88  Connor Williams (18y, Britain) – trained by Denise Whiteman & Sarah Dickinson
Plus – the winner of the Choreographic Award Winner sponsored by Mondor is #42  Kanon Kondo (16y) from Japanese and trained by Moritoshi Kudo & Sakae Maruyama. Kanon Kondo is not a Finalist but will perform her Dancer’s Own variation at the Final.
The Finalists now compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. In addition to the three medals, which come with prize money of up to A$10,000 for a gold medal, the Margot Fonteyn Audience Choice Award will also be given. These talented young ballet dancers will be judged by David McAllister, Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, Kevin O’Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet, and Francesco Ventrigilia, Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Don’t forget, you can watch the Final from the comfort of your home by purchasing your virtual ticket to the event. Hosted by Emma Freedman, the online live stream, which will be available through paid-for access via the Royal Academy of Dance’s (RAD) website on Sunday 11th December 2016 at 6.30pm AEDT / 7.30am GMT, will give viewers access to exclusive content including interviews, special behind the scenes footage and backstage coverage during intervals.
